My friend… this is among your best work about your home. The images and prose are both fantastic; each supporting the other in equal measure. Just so, so nice. I’ve now read it through 3 times and each time I find some nuance I’d missed before. Lovely. Thank you.

Nuance? I'm honored. Well, adobe and shadows are like an old friend so there's a certain intimacy to the wispy smoke and hard shadows on the hand-applied mud. It's all very organic in form and substance. I truly appreciate such heartfelt words especially from you. I see a connection between your stone and shadows of Italy and those of El Norte, Hispano northern New Mexico. Twin sons with different mothers, both Catholic I'm sure.

Hardly anything written about adobe in New Mexico could be as fluent and eloquently produced as your opening paragraph for today's Substack posting. The author in you is ready to begin a book, perhaps two or three, on the subject of your choosing. The final two photographs in today's posting add to the grandeur of any building built of adobe. A true ode to a nearly universal and timeless building material. Mud is magic.

Jeez! Thanks. Now if I could write two in a row it might lead to three and so on. Maybe my plight is that haven't found or committed to a subject. Adobe is forever it seems to me. 8,000 years and counting. I couldn't appreciate your support, comments and friendship more. Book talk soon.
